Mark Staples announces run for West Fargo School Board
WEST FARGO, ND — Incumbent board member Mark Staples announced his candidacy today for the West Fargo Public Schools board of directors. Staples is a graduate of West Fargo High School and began serving on the school board in August 2021 after being appointed to fill an unexpired term.
“The educators in West Fargo have earned our school district a reputation for excellence that attracts families to our community,” Staples said. “As a member of the school board, my aim is to continue working toward a high-quality, equitable learning environment for all students.”
His firsthand experience as a student in the district gives Staples a unique perspective on the board's efforts to prepare learners for success after graduation. Staples attended all levels of West Fargo Public Schools, graduating from West Fargo High in 2013. During his service on the board, Staples has worked with district administration to elevate student voice by creating a Learner Advisory Board, meeting with students in the district’s three high schools to hear their perspective on decisions that affect them.
Staples is a resident of West Fargo and works in external affairs for The Nature Conservancy. He previously served as deputy communications director for Gov. Doug Burgum. Staples holds a B.A. degree in economics from Harvard University.
